I saw a commercial for a new video game (of all things) and loved the song that accompanied it. I went online to look it up, and it was "Burning Jacob's Ladder" by Mark Lanegan. I had never heard of him, so I sampled some of his stuff, and really liked it. I downloaded one album and some singles from other albums.
His sound is rooted in grunge, so it has that slow groove that I like, and his voice is very real, gravely and manly. He has three album collaborations with singer and cellist Isobel Campbell that almost sound ethereal.
