Today was the day that they "strike the jury". Judge Jolley was funny because he said that it must be a Northern Alabama phrase that he was unfamiliar with because, when he first heard it, he didn't want to hit anyone.
Cue the outrageous laughter from the hyena in the gallery!
They separated the total number of people, forming what they called a jury pool. My name was called! I was part of the jury pool, which is farther than I got the last time.
After we were separated, the others were allowed to go home until tomorrow. The rest of us were asked questions by the defense attorney and the asst district attorney. They took notes and dismissed us to lunch.
After lunch, they "struck" 21 of us, leaving 12 jurors and 2 alternates. My name wasn't called this time. Shoot!
I have to return tomorrow to the courthouse at 1:15pm to start the process again.
