The editor of the local newspaper called me yesterday and asked me to come back aboard as a guest writer. As you may recall, I was abruptly and heinously replaced in my monthly "people & events" rotation by another female writer. I don't recall her name, but I do remember that she tried a little too hard to be eccentric. I was pierced a bit by this decision, coupled with the fact that I felt no motivation without a deadline, so I never sent in another article. The editor called a couple of times to ask for a submission, but I never felt compelled to honor the request.
Now he wants me to come back. Probably not because I am such a lofty writer, but because I proved to be consistent and timely with meeting my deadlines. I have been ruminating on a few ideas lately, so I was prepared to say yes, but he changed the game on me a bit. He doesn't want me to write on people or events, but wants to add me to the editorial page.
I will pause for a moment to let that sink in.
Now, my dear friends know that I am very rarely without opinion, and feel that everyone is entitled to my opinion, so you can imagine that it was virtually ... nee ... surely IMPOSSIBLE to turn down a platform for my rants!
My first is a longer version of the profiling piece I posted earlier on this blog. Next, I will work on overindulged children, and then I may tackle obesity. All in all, I plan to be viewed as a bit ... shall I say ... peckish...
I'd better get used to being left off party invitations!

I agree with Deanne. But it is time I think that Arab learn to put their big briches on and take a little truth serum!
You go girl!
