Halloween is an interesting holiday. It's not really a holiday because no one gets off work, but it's a holiday in that most people celebrate it.
Including Christians, to my surprise. I know that you'd have to be a pretty fundamental believer not to celebrate it in this day and time, but to be embraced so widely by the Christian community is surprising. Usually, "out loud" Christians like to flaunt their nonparticipation in such blatantly secular activities.
I did a little research, and there are several things in today's holiday that harkens back to Gaelic celebrations of summer's end, like dressing in costume and references to spirits. Today, however, it's more about the candy for the kids and the parties for the adults.
Speaking of parties, I have always found it interesting that women dress pretty much like tramps for Halloween. Have you looked at the Party City costume catalog?

I propose a costume a little more in line with the women. I am not lobbying to change the women's costumes, so don't be alarmed! I want to make it more equitable for the men. Here's what I'm thinking:
