Have you heard this bunk that those who seriously restrict their caloric intake live longer? There is a Calorie Restriction Society! I'll bet they don't hold their meetings at the local Mexican restaurant.
They say that, if you want to live to be 100 years old, this is the way to do it. Simply decrease the average Western diet by 10-25%. Let's assume that we eat the daily recommended 2,000 calorie diet. That would be a new caloric intake of 1,500 to 1,800 calories per day. That doesn't seem huge to me until you realize that that's a meal.
Risks: Negative appearance changes, bone health, cold sensitivity, stunted growth, lack of cushioning, reduces energy reserves, hunger, menstrual irregularity, decreased testosterone, loss of strength/stamina, and slower wound healing.
So, I can live 60 more years as a hungry, atrophied, cranky bitch who can't lift a hairdryer ... or I can live the way I have for 42 years: fat, dumb and HAPPY!
Somebody pass me a donut.
