To listen or not to listen...

The Rolling Stones really hit the nail on the head with the chorus to their hit song, "You Can't Always Get What You Want." The rest of the lyrics make no sense to me, but this phrase resonates.

You can't always get what you want. But if you try sometime, you just might find, you get what you need.

I am talking about the government listening in on our conversations. Most of them. Just in case. And people are PISSED.

Why? Why are you so mad? You want to be protected, but not scrutinized. You want to be safe but not at the cost of any of your liberties.

Well? Which do you want?

The government HAS to eavesdrop to know what is going on. If you are not doing anything wrong, what is the big deal? The government doesn't care what a freak you may be. You may be embarrassed at some of the things that they hear? Stop doing it if it will embarrass you. I learned a long time ago that, if you need keep it secret, you probably don't need to be doing it.

Where will it stop, you want to know? Give them an inch and they will take a mile, you say? Again I ask the question: What do you want them to do? Protect you or give you undeniable privacy? You cannot have both. You cannot have both. You. Cannot. Have. Both.
