For example, Strat attended summer school and because of that, we had to wait until he was finished before enrolling in Snead State CC for his dual-enrollment courses. I called the counselor at school twice for her assistance in this, and emailed when it was clear that she was NOT going to call me back. Still no word. Strat dropped the three classes because he had only the first week to get his ducks in a row (and we still had no idea what those ducks were).
Here is my venting email:
Ms. Hornsby,
As I’m sure you now must know, Strat was forced to drop all three dual enrollment courses because neither my husband nor I heard from you in response to either of our requests. Since my husband works in the college system, and tuition would have been waived, I find this situation most disagreeable. This also means that Strat will lack three full college class credits when he graduates from high school, another sore disappointment on my part.
Because this is new ground for us, I depend on you (as Mrs. Snow suggested when I started this discussion with her late last year) to assist us in this matter. Strat’s enrollment in summer school pushed all preparations back, but I was assured, again by Mrs. Snow (whom I understand has retired) that we would be easily able to fulfill all necessary requirements for the classes.
With that said, I would appreciate very much your assistance in getting ready for dual-enrollment next year. Since I will have no part in a last minute effort, as was the case this year, I ask that you assist me in getting Strat on track early, as opposed to later or not at all.
I am available to you at any time through the numbers listed with the school.
C. Milligan
Needless to say, I did not send it.
But I'm still mad as hell.
