You know what creeps me out? Seeing grown ups commenting on the facebook pages of their son's / daughter's latest relationship. For example, I would comment on Strat's girlfriend's site.
Now, normally, this type of communication would be fine at a school event, church, or running into her at MegoLoMart. Small talk to acknowledge this young person who is dating your son. It's just polite. However, when you start texting, emailing or facebooking this person, you have crossed some unspoken line. At least for me.
Much like a 43 year old woman texting her daughter's boyfriend, "Hope you have a great week! Do you have any tests this week?"
It all seems so Mrs Robinson to me. Forward, intimate and altogether inappropriate.
I think the main problem here is twofold. 1. The parent doesn't want to get older and not be a part of that fun crowd; and, 2. the parent is WAY possessive, wanting to be involved in all aspects of their child's life. I have a friend that likes to hang out with her daughter and her daughter's boyfriend. Just hang out. Not peek in every now and then, but stay in the room to watch the movie, go outside and roast marshmallows with them, etc. And she texts the boyfriend. Just conversational stuff, and I'm sure nothing inappropriate. However, doing it at all is inappropriate to me.
It's just creepy.

That is a little odd and is kind of creepy. Hope it all works out.
