Commitment: The New 4-Letter Word

What ever happened to a sense of commitment? Our lack of commitment affects us personally, but much of the time, it also has an effect on others. Here is an interesting quote I ran across online:

Is Commitment a direction to be pursued as long as it works for you or a direction to be pursued until it works for you?

People are becoming more and more self-centered and will drop something like a hot potato if it becomes the least bit uncomfortable, inconvenient or difficult. Look at the number of obese people to prove this. It is easier to sit on your butt, shoving potato chips in your mouth and watching mind-numbing television than it is to go outside and play with your kids or walk the dog. It's too cold, it's too hot, there are too many cars, I don't want to sweat.

Think about it, people. Then get off your ass and do something you don't really want to ... because it will make someone else happy and it's not always about YOU.
